Terrence Marks

I'm from Pompano Beach, Florida.  I'm 24 years old and happily married to Isabel, my artist and love.

I also colour Kevin & Kell.
I also run The Nice.
I also do tech support for Gateway, now, since IBM took their business elsewhere.

I have a history degree from the University of Florida.  It comes in more useful than you'd think.  Tech support is 90% research.

I've been writing for years, but it wasn't until about January of 1998 when I realized that my weaknesses (lack of description, scenery and narrative, tendency to use the plot as a means of getting from joke to joke, boredom with ideas after a few dozen pages) and strengths (fast-paced two-person dialogue) were pretty well suited to cartooning.  After spending several months trying to get one person to draw it (and failing), I decided to start dividing labour between multiple cartoonists.  Now I've got one person who draws it, finally.  I like that arrangement.

The other thing I do is music.  I was in a band called The Modern Lizard Quartet back when I was in Gainesville.  We were mainly a studio-type band.  I was the eccentric singer/bassist/keyboardist.  Dave was the guitarist/singer and the methodical producer/engineer.  I was into horribly obscure psychedelic bands.  He was into 80s college alternative; Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson, The Pretenders, XTC, and such.  We played two live shows, with tape accompaniment.

My favourite bands include Pink Floyd, The Zombies, The Beach Boys, The Soft Boys, The Soft Machine, The Chills, Syd Barrett, The Apples (in Stereo), Stevie Wonder, Tintern Abbey, Viva Saturn, The Bonzo Dog Band, Mort Garson, United States of America, Isao Tomita, The Command All-Stars, Takako Minekawa, Faine Jade, Clive Palmer, The Incredible String Band, Robyn Hitchcock, The Moles, Gentle Giant, The High Llamas, Jack Bruce, Fever Tree, Fountains of Wayne, (the British) Nirvana, Charles Mingus, Skip Spence, The Electric Prunes, and They Might Be Giants.
